things to look forward to on this trip
We are taking a trip to visit my family this week and I am being a pill about it. Also stressed. Also cranky. So I am going to take a minute to write a list of things to look forward to, so I will enjoy this trip instead of being a crabby patty. Check it out after the jump.
What I'm looking forward to:
- Nieces and nephew. I love all the adorable children.
- Fried turkey. Turkey fried with bacon. Baaaaaaacon.
- The other kind of turkey, with lots of gravy.
- And cornbread dressing.
- And pie. Pie from that place in Katy. The amazing pie. I love pie.
- I'm going to think of something that isn't food-related now. I promise.
- Oooh, maybe we can get a roast-beef po-boy!
- That was food too. Okay. Hang on.
- Seeing relatives like my grandpa. Because I am nice like that.
- Sneaking away from the relatives on Wednesday or Friday morning to have breakfast at Camillia Grill, assuming it's not too terribly crowded.
- And maybe taking the streetcar down St. Charles and looking at all the lovely houses.
- "New Orleans ... home of pirates, drunks and whores ... tacky overpriced souvenir stores ..."
- And we are thinking of doing a walking tour in the Garden District if it's not too rainy. Perhaps there might even be a stop at a local bookstore.
- I wish The Prytania were showing something that wasn't Quantum of Solace. But there might be other movie watching goodness.
- And beignets. There must be beignets.
- And I promise not to make any jokes about that traumatic time with the Fuddruckers in Katy Mills.
- Or to tease my sister about peacocks.
- I'm going to bring my camera and take lots of pictures, of the kids and po-boys and stuff.
- Having a full night's sleep without a cat walking on me. Such a novelty!
- Piiiiiiiiiiiiiie.
