So it's come to this: catblogging

I really like this photo of Rufus, our cat, which I took about a week or so ago. I didn't take it for any reason other than that I had the camera in my hand for something else, saw him out of the corner of my eye, and decided to snap a photo or two.

The whole "LOLcat" thing has become very trendy lately, and the web is full of pictures of cats in adorable and cute positions, with hilarious captions. I've taken my share of pictures of the cat in an Amazon box and pretending to read a thank-you note; last year I Photoshopped him into an amusing picture for our wedding website. And more recently I caught him doing something I thought was so funny (in a film geek way) that I restaged it and took a series of photos I've been wanting to post.

But I like this photo of Rufus because he is not doing anything at all -- this is how he looks all the time (except more in focus). It's very Rufus-y. This is our cat. He is probably about to follow me around in hopes that I will play with him, or feed him, or pet him. For once, I feel like I actually captured the cat's image realistically.

Yes, he does have the patient-with-the-bipeds look, doesn't he.
